« Wireless Routers, Networks, 192.168.1.x ... | Main | Annoying .NET error #236 - Server Error ... »

Ok, I did preface this whole thing by saying I had not researched it much, but talk about feeling stupid when I saw this in my wireless router settings:

Yeah, that's right. Just tell it not to be a router... and it won't! Geeeeez what a bonehead. So changed that, and assigned all my wireless devices 192.168.1.x addresses, and presto.

The XBOX now sees my desktop PC. Next trick? Figure out how to get Windows XP Media Center edition. Probably not going to happen for a longgggggggg time.

Ahhhhhhh one network. All my machines and devices can talk to each other. I can transfer shows from tivo box to tivo box now too... cool.

Is that picture of your Tivo or of your XBox 360 on the screen? I didn't know you could send files between Tivo's! That's awesome... can you send them to your computer too?

That is the XBox 360's music interface.

Yep, you can send shows between tivo units, granted they are on the same network.

You can send them to your computer as well.

The big problem is that both of these methods of transfer are painfully slow. Especially tivo -> computer. Tivo decided that they would encrypt everything sent to a computer, so to transfer a two hour show to my computer can take over two hours.

Ridiculous.

So, my primary tivo unit has a DVD burner, I find I just burn something to DVD if I'm going to be away, and want to watch something.
